AUN-QA 4.0: Assessment for the improvement and enhancement of pharmacy education quality (Part 1)

The assessment of the Pharmacy training program at the Faculty of Pharmacy – Lac Hong University (LHU) based on the AUN-QA 4.0 standards has successfully concluded. This marks a significant milestone in the university's journey toward enhancing educational quality and regional integration. Reflecting on the process, the assessment was the result of rigorous preparation, collective commitment and a strong sense of responsibility shared by the entire Faculty of Pharmacy team.

Part 1: From initial preparations to the official assessment

In September 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy officially launched preparations for the assessment. The focus of this phase was the development of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and a comprehensive review of the training program against AUN-QA 4.0 criteria. A system of evidence was gathered, updated and systematically organized to accurately reflect activities regarding education, scientific research, students support and stakeholder engagement. The Faculty placed special emphasis on evaluating the attainment of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) while simultaneously reviewing and refining the curriculum to meet the practical demands of the pharmaceutical industry.

Professional meetings, training sessions and progress reviews were conducted regularly to align plans, assign tasks and prepare for working sessions with the assessment team.

The preparation process was not merely about finalizing documentation and evidence; it also served as an opportunity for the LHU Faculty of Pharmacy to comprehensively review its educational, research and student support activities. Furthermore, it provided a chance to reinforce and spread the culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement throughout the Faculty.

In addition to the technical aspects, facilities and schedule coordination were meticulously prepared to ensure that working sessions proceeded smoothly and effectively.

Prior to the official assessment, representatives from the University and the Faculty of Pharmacy were present at the airport to welcome the AUN-QA assessors. The reception arrangements were carefully organized, reflecting LHU’s professionalism, sense of responsibility and high regard for the international assessment team.
