LHU leaders share insights into applying AI in education

Three delegates of LHU including Dr. Lam Thanh Hien - Rector; Dr. Le Phuong Truong and Mpharm. Ngo Dinh Hoang Diem - Head and Deputy Head of Office of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance on October 4, 2024 attended and shared at a training workshop on “Applications of AI in Education” organized by the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality of VNU-HCM.

More than 120 researchers and lecturers from member universities of VNU-HCM, Van Lang University, Van Hien University, Open University and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine also attended the workshop.

At the workshop, delegates listened to two presentations from LHU on the topics: The Motivation for Change in Education with AI shared by Dr. Lam Thanh Hien and Effective use of AI: Integrating AI in Teaching presented by Dr. Le Phuong Truong.

LHU is currently making major changes in regular training, building a learning society, responding to the lifelong learning movement "The whole country emulates building a learning society, promoting lifelong learning in the 2023 - 2030 period".

It also aims to pursue the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. The sharing of knowledge to serve the community at the "Applications of AI in Education" workshop is also one of the activities to promote the UNs' Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 (Quality education). This goal aims to provide all people with technology access to education, improve work performance 5-10 times faster and ensure lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Along with that, VNU-HCM has determined to turn AI one of the core technologies in building creative urban areas, smart cities, promoting digital economic development as well as vigorously implementing the development of digital data for VNU-HCM's lecturers and students, building smart Chatbots to support university admissions as well as digital learning platforms...

The workshop provided an overview of AI applications and introduced some AI tools in education, the risks and solutions of AI, concurrently sharing basic knowledge and skills to use AI for teaching, ensuring quality assurance at educational institutions. In addition, LHU's sharings of AI uses in education brought many practical values ​​to higher education institutions, managers and lecturers, contributing to the sustainable development of education in the digital age.
